A City in a Few Meals (2007)
Event and residency at Saarbr?ºcken Stadt Gallery, followed by an exhibition at the History museum of the city of Luxembourg.
Commissioned by the History Museum of the city of Luxembourg and Saarbr?ºcken Stadtgalerieas part of European Capital of Culture 2007. As a guest of the gallery Sharone Lifschitz spent two weeks meeting people, getting to know the city and cooking meals, leading to a dinner for 64 people in the gallery‚Äôs 19th century neo-gothic courtyard in the compnay of two Halfinger horses and a keyboard. Some of the guests were acquaintances recently made by the artist, while some were unknown to her and invited by her hosts. The meal was organised with the aid of the Saarbr?ºcken fire brigade who brought along the special equipment for the Schwenker BBQ and operated it throughout the evening.
The installation created for exhibition involved a retelling of events and encounters in images and text.
Project created as part of the project 'The Game of Life' as a loose collaboration with artists Martine Felipel, Celina Gonzalez Sueyro and Musician Luke Barlow.
